Welcome to the new Technicate.Com! As a company, we have been talking up creating our new site in an open source CMS (Content Management System). For those asking "What's a CMS?" ... it's a content organization system that allows for immediate website development with (usually) all of the bells and whistles of a long drawn out design and development. We searched and searched, of course our own pride of being great programmers held us back a bit. We thought we could build a great CMS and sell it!
As programmers, it's difficult to use a CMS because most CMS systems are hard to "customize". It's always easier for us to simply develop a page that delivers the dynamic content.
Until now ....
I believe we have found the perfect CMS to deploy and use ourselves. We are now on the ModX CMS Framework (http://www.modxcms.com) and couldn't be happier. Let's look at what we were able to do:
1. Come up with a COMPLETE XHTML designed template and simple upload it to the CMS
2. Transition our old blogger site to an internal blog using the ModX features
3. Create a contact form and a complete testimonials record with a simple template
4. Write over 24 pages of content related to our wonderful consulting company
We started this .... on Monday of this week.
Needless to say, we are extreamly excited to give our clients a perfect option for a CMS. This is a huge market with many OVERPRICED options, ModX will allow us to have a complete suite.
